Last updated: 4 August 2026 · These terms apply to every booking of the Portrait Realism Academy.
By reserving a spot you agree to the terms below. Please read them before paying — they are short and written in plain language on purpose.
The Portrait Realism Academy is a 3-day, in-person black & grey portrait realism masterclass taught by Federico Galliani.
Included: a full workstation, all working materials, premium ink and grey-wash sets, synthetic practice skin, catering on all three days, and a certificate of completion. You bring only your own tattoo machine.
On Day 2 you observe Federico tattooing a live model provided by the host studio. On Day 3 you practise on synthetic skin under direct supervision — participants do not tattoo human clients during the Academy.
Places are assigned through an application. Submitting an application does not create a booking and does not require payment. We review each application personally and reply within a reasonable time. Your spot is confirmed only when the deposit has been received and we have sent you a written confirmation.
| Item | Amount | When |
|---|---|---|
| Total tuition | USD 2,000 | — |
| Deposit (secures your spot) | USD 500 | On booking |
| Balance | USD 1,500 | By 6 September 2026 |
You may also pay the full amount at any time. The two-step schedule above carries no interest and no fees. If you need a different arrangement — a further split of the balance, or payment by Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, cash or bank transfer — contact us before the deadline and we will set it up in writing. All payments are processed by Stripe in US dollars; your bank may apply currency conversion or international fees, which are not within our control.
If the balance is not received by the deadline and you have not agreed a different arrangement with us in writing, we may release your spot to the waiting list. Talk to us before the deadline if something is in the way — we would rather find a solution than lose you.
If your application is not accepted — you receive a full refund, immediately. No conditions.
If we cancel the Academy — you receive a full refund of everything you have paid. We are not liable for travel or accommodation you booked separately, so please consider travel insurance.
If you change your mind — the deposit is non-refundable, because your spot is one of only ten and is taken off the market for you. However, it is transferable: you can pass your spot to another artist, or move it to the next edition of the Academy. Just write to us.
If you have already paid the balance and cancel more than 30 days before the start date, the balance (USD 1,500) is refunded and only the deposit is retained. Within 30 days of the start date, the balance can be transferred to another artist or to a future edition, but is not refunded in cash.
Refunds are issued to the original payment method and normally appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
Refunds are processed by writing to academy@portraitrealismacademy.com.
We may make minor changes to the schedule, the demo subject or the venue layout when necessary for practical, health or safety reasons, always preserving the substance and value of the three days. If we have to change the dates or the city, you may choose between transferring to the new dates or receiving a full refund.
We may photograph and film the Academy for documentation and promotion. If you prefer not to appear, tell us at the start of Day 1 and we will respect it. Participants may take their own photos and videos for personal and portfolio use, but may not record the teaching sessions in full or redistribute the course material commercially.
All teaching materials, methods and content shared during the Academy remain the intellectual property of Federico Galliani. You are free to use everything you learn in your own professional work — that is the whole point — but you may not resell, republish or teach the course material as your own programme.
We promise three days of serious, hands-on teaching from a working professional, in a room of ten people. We make no promise about earnings, career results, clients or income. What you get out of it depends on your work.
Tattooing involves inherent risks. You take part at your own responsibility and remain responsible for your own professional insurance and legal compliance. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability in connection with the Academy is limited to the amount you paid us. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live. Any dispute we cannot resolve amicably — and we will always try first — may be brought before the competent court.
